Exhibition Night

Some of my work will be going on sale tonight @ Arthur Robinson House - The Green, Billingham.  It's the open evening for the exhibition tonight (Friday 23rd April), so if anyone fancies a bit of bubbly and a chat about artwork, feel free to stop by between 6pm - 9pm.  I'll post some pics of the event for those that can't make it.

Also, I'll be listing some new items in my Etsy Shop very soon so keep an eye out for updates!

What do chickens do in winter?

Hi again, I hope you all had a brilliant Easter weekend!  It's the weekend again, which of course is grand, but time's wizzing past me like I don't know what lately...I've been told this is to be expected as your years clock up, so I'd better get used to it. Anyway at least the sun is shining now and it makes me a very happy chicken... I can finally come back from hibernation! (I know normal chickens don't hibernate but this one does...) - I don't do too well in winter unless I have a pair of ski boots permanently affixed to my feet - this year was lacking in the ski boot department...

So on an entirely different note, I have eight pieces of work framed and two paintings ready for an upcoming exhibition, which I'm really excited about as it will be the first show I've taken part in.  There are a few other artists & photographers involved in this so I'm looking forward to seeing their work too.

Believe it or not, organizing to get prints made has been the toughest challenge so far.  But I think I've found what I've been looking for after a lot of research and trial and error.  I'm expecting to get more proofs and samples back this week and then hopefully I'll be at the stage where I will have a tangible product in my possession so I can begin listing items on my etsy shop! :)

Bunny Love :: Pen & Ink on Bristol Board :: 7"x5.5"

These last few weeks have been quite hectic for me so I plan to spend Easter Weekend chilling out if that's possible! I've spent a lazy day drinking coffee, doodling and gathering some ideas for new projects I'd like to work on.

I should probably leave the house now before I go completely insane.  But first... I'll upload my most recent drawing for you to see :o)

Intro...

Hello, my name's Jo.  I'm pretty much a self taught artist.  I did attend Art College for a while, at which I discovered there were things I needed to learn that could not be taught in a classroom or lecture theatre & I knew I wasn't meant to go to uni.  What my soul needed were life lessons.  I needed to grow, evolve, experience love, life and loss in my own way- not constrained by rules and regulations.

What happened next was my turning point, it's what's made me into the person I am today and I'm eternally grateful to the people who helped me begin living my dream.  In 2004 I booked a flight to somewhere far far away, threw on a backpack and took off into the unknown- for the first time in my life I was truly alone but far from being lonely.

Six years later I am now back in the UK, I'm beginning to document my world through my artwork and trying to make a living from it. Most of the artwork I produce is based on my experiences, emotions and thoughts, some of it begins it's life in a doodle and some of it miraculously appears on a canvas before me if I let my imagination run riot.  Each piece has a meaning & one would have to truly know me to understand.  You may take what you want from my artwork, love or hate it, it's there for your interpretation.

I'll be using my blog to post my random thoughts, processes & ideas...I also hope to gain feedback on some projects I'm working on.

Well, if you've got this far... thanks for reading. Keep checking back as I post my art & feel free to comment - let me know what you like and what you don't!
